Port Facility Personnel with Designated Security Duties
The course is designed around the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Model Course 3.24 ‘Security Awareness Training for Port Facility Personnel with Designated Security Duties’
The course is intended to provide the knowledge required for port facility personnel with designated security duties in connection with a Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP)
Those who successfully complete the course should be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge to undertake the duties assigned under the PFSP.
This knowledge includes, but is not limited to:
1.Knowledge of current security threat and patterns.
2.Recognition and detection of weapons, dangerous substances and devices.
3.Recognition on a non-discriminatory basis of characteristics and behavioural patterns of persons who are likely to threaten security.
4.Techniques used to circumvent security measures.
5.Crowd management and control techniques.
7.Knowledge of emergency procedures and contingency plans.
8.Operation of security equipment and systems.
9.Testing, calibration and maintenance of security equipment and systems.
10.Inspection control and monitoring techniques.
11.Methods of physical searches of persons, personal effects, baggage, cargo and ship stores.

A ‘Port Facility Personnel with Designated Security Duties’ certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course.
The course is run over 2 days, involving questions, exercises and a final assessment.
